A resort lodge near Mukki Gate, Kanha
- Peepal
Another destination around Kanha National
Park at the western entrance Khatia Gate:
Kipling Camp
7kms from Khatia Gate in Kanha National Park. Kipling Camp is simply unique.
Its naturally beautiful surroundings have an instantaneous, positive effect on any wildlife
visitor.
Robert H. Wright, his wife Anne and their daughter, Belinda, established Kipling for the
benefit of their extensive circle of friends from all over the world, and were the first
to open their welcoming gates to Kanha’s wildlife tourism in 1989.
Kipling Camp remains to this day totally committed to the welfare of wildlife, tribal communities
and to its own conscience towards ecologically sound tourism ethics.
Kipling Camp’s accommodation and areas of general relaxation are these days quite
enchanting and very stylish, not forgetting the presence of the friendliest Elephant on
earth – Tara.

beautiful jungles of the newly denoted Achanakmar Tiger Reserve in northern Chattisgarh.
It is a 4½ hour drive from Bilaspur through picturesque countryside.
Anurag Shukla has been active for the last 20 odd years in fighting for the protection of
this reserve, and the wildlife that it protects.
Sal Valley is easily accessed from Bhoremdeo Jungle Retreat, and Bandhavgarh Tiger
Reserve.
The ancient Amarkantak temples at the source of the Naramada River are well worth a visit

Tiger Walk, Kanha, is just 2kms from the Mukki Gate. Tiger Walk was built around
the 1960's by Naval Commodore K.K. Sanjana, and his most gracious wife, Makki. In those
days the property was the only one of its kind, and used mainly as a base for hunting parties
- that was then, but before and after 1972 the Sanjana family had always been involved in
helping both Baiga and Gond villagers with medical assistance. They made available a mobile
clinic, complete with dedicated doctors. Later on they established a charitable hospital
in Baihar, which was donated to the MP Govt. after Sanjana Saheb's sad demise.
Today K.K. Sanjana's nephew, Jimmy Sanjana of Nagpur, is offering Tiger Walk to special
visitors who really do not want to stay in a hotel environment. The property is full of
old world charm, and quite comfortable. A good Gond cook and maid are there to look after
any guest's needs, while the experienced driver and jeep are always ready to guide wildlifers
into Kanha's core. The charge levied for American Plan, (accommodation and all meals) is
Rs.6,500/- per person, per night. Park entry fees and vehicle hire
Jimmy Sanjana can be contacted directly on +91 9373105866 or

Supporting the above properties near MP & CG's vital Tiger Reserves help these more
conscientious wildlife enthusiasts to continue the variety of true value work they do for
the people of Kanha and its wildlife.
